2022 Nationals Announcement

Dan Watson - 28th June 2021

Venue: Pentewan Sands Sailing Club and Holiday Village
Dates: Wed 1st June to Sat 4th June over the Jubilee Bank Holiday/Half Term;
Racing: 9 races (+ crews race) over 4 days with plenty of holiday time

We strongly believe this venue has everything you could wish right on your (holiday) doorstep -dinghy park, club, catering, launching and sailing all within a stones throw of each other keeping the fleet together. Along with relatively cheap and plentiful accommodation, compared to other Cornish holiday locations. This type of venue also focusses on being family-friendly with the availability of the beach, holiday park activities, cycle trails, Mevagissey and Eden Project all a short car ride away.

Plenty of Accommodation options both inside & outside holiday village, but these get busy so BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment (see below for options)
Boat Storage and Launching off the beach, just yards away from accommodation.

Accommodation details
The main lesson learnt from Rock during this time of COVID was accommodation availability, so we are sending out this announcement early, so you can make your booking now and allow you to sit back and relax in the knowledge that you have enabled yourself to partake in the 2022 Nationals. Don't miss this opportunity, even though it seems a long way off, so PLEASE BOOK EARLY. There are plenty of options now so get on it before it's too late, so you can secure your accommodation, as well as having something to look forward to next year. The Queen's Jubilee Bank Holiday is bound to be a busy time of year, with the additional public holiday given to us. With the extra Public Holiday participation in the Nationals could be completed with only one day off from work, making full use of of the 2 day bank holiday (Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd June).

Accommodation options:

1. Pentewan Sands Five-Star Holiday Park

There are a range of luxury/price categories, which are not currently advertised on their website. These sleep between 4 and 6 people, for Saturday-to-Saturday bookings and can be booked over the phone for next year's Nationals. Deposits are £100 for all sizes and price categories.

NEWFLASH - Holiday Homes at Pentewan Sands are now SOLD OUT

Choose other options listed below for your stay at Pentewan.

2. Camping in tents, campervans and caravans

The campsite is literally next to the beach and bookings work on a ‘lottery’ basis. The form is released
online in August and closes in October. People get to pick their 3 favourite pitches (sounds like lots have a sea view). A lottery system awards preferences on an unbiased basis. Everyone finds out what they have been allocated in November, well in advance of June.
Check out their website for details - https://pentewan.co.uk/ways-to-stay/touring-and-camping/

3. Holiday Cottages in Pentewan

Right next to the sailing club and close to the pub are small and compact holiday cottages in the quaint village of Pentewan, but you can literally roll out of bed and into the boat park. There are options to book part of the week, which provides greater flexibility and potential bespoke solution.
Check out sites like AirB&B and VrBO for booking

4. Bed & Breakfasts

There are a small number of B&Bs in the town, plus others in the nearby fishing village of Mevagissey. You may need to contact the owners directly, but check out sites like Tripadvisor and St Austell Tourist Office for listings. And with B&Bs, you only need to book for the nights required, plus you get breakfast included!
* The Cove is a B&B in the village an only takes bookings direct.

Pentewan will offer the Larks a close knit sailing community, with everything on our doorstep through-out the champs and a first class sailing venue. Further details of the racing, socials and other logistics will be sent in the future. For now here is all you need to know about the accommodation.
