Frensham Pond Open and Try-a-Lark day

Daniel Watson - 06th April 2010

The fixtures are now coming thick and fast with the second weekend of the 2010 Belle Isle calendar taking place at Frensham Pond on Sunday 11th April. This one-day open meeting is proceeded by a Try-a-Lark day on Saturday 10th April.
So if you are relatively new to the class or thinking of upgrading to an Ovington Lark, then turn up a day early and get some valuable advice from Chris Ellis, one of the longest standing competitive Lark sailors and view the new Ovington Lark that will be on display and ready to be used on the day. We would also encourage participation from regular Lark members in this event to help promote the class, the boat and the Lark sailing scene as a whole.

Saturday's Try-a-Lark Event Details: The day starts at 1030 and goes through to the afternoon handicap racing that starts at 1400. During the first part of the day we will take a look at the Lark and its equipment. Depending on the interest and expertise we will go through key points in making the boat go fast at all points of sailing, and maybe squeeze in some spinnaker coaching. Then its onto the water putting the advice gained into practice, with newcomers either crewing or helming, and then back in for lunch prior to taking part in the handicap race for those that wish.

Sunday's Open Meeting Details: The Open Meeting, the fourth in the 2010 Belle Isle series, will take place on Sunday with the first race at 1100 (briefing at 1030). This is followed by lunch and then two back-to-back races in the afternoon. Food and drink is available throughout the day with the entry fee being 9.
