Notice of Race

RULES: The regatta will be governed by the racing Rules of sailing, the prescriptions of the R.Y.A., the rules of the Lark Association, except as any of these are changed by the event Sailing Instructions.

ELIGIBILITY: The meeting is open to all Lark dinghies on satisfactory completion of the entry form. All competitors and their families will be deemed to be temporary members of Marconi Sailing Club for the duration of the event.

ENTRY FEE is £20 per boat (or £15 where both helm and crew are 18 or under on 1 Jan 2018)

CAMPING/FACILITIES: Camping is permitted on site on Friday 25rd, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th May only. The camping fee is £5 per boat, per night – payable at the weekend.

REFRESHMENTS will be available on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

DINNER: There will be a BBQ on Saturday night (this is laid on for the volunteers that helped with the open day, however visitors may take advantage of the BBQ for a £5 donation). There will also be a hot meal on offer for Sunday evening £7 per adult and £4.5 for under 12s for two courses.

ENTERTAINMENT: Live Music will be provided on Saturday and Sunday evening

SCHEDULE: Please note, this event will take place alongside club racing, ‘around the cans’, as an additional fleet with a race box start.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS will be issued at registration.

REGISTRATION will be open from 17:00 – 18:30 on Saturday 26th May and 09:00-10:00 on Sunday 27th May.

VENUE: The regatta will be held at Marconi Sailing Club, Stansgate Abbey Farm, Steeple, Essex CM0 7NU and sailed on the River Blackwater, Essex

COURSES will be displayed in the race reception and described at the briefings.

SCORING: The low points scoring system in Appendix A will be used. Each boat’s series score shall be the total of all her race scores, except that discards shall be applied as follows:

Races Discards
1 – 3 races completed No discard
4 or more races completed 1 discard

PRIZES to be announced.

RADIO COMMUMICATION: Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats, this restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

INSURANCE: Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £3,000,000 per incident or the equivalent.
