The Larks proved to be the third most popular choice of boat in the slow handicap at this yearís BUCs fleet racing championships (the only time of the year that universities let their sailors loose in anything more exciting than a Firefly). Durham, Portsmouth and Plymouth all had Lark representatives descending on Draycote reservoir to show the rest of the fleet how to sail to the leeward mark in a straight line. It was girl power all the way, with 5 out of the 6 Lark sailors there being ladies. Despite all three crew pairings being (in some cases extremely) underweight, they all survived the severe and sudden gusts of Saturday and made it through to the slightly lighter but much colder conditions of Sunday. Jones / Harris finished 6th overall, contributing to Durhamís ladies teamís bronze medals (and most importantly beating every RS200!). Suggitt / Mulcahy from Portsmouth came 12th and Calvert / Waterfall representing Plymouth were 18th. A huge thank you to everyone who lent boats and trailers to make this possible!
