Lark Masters and GJW Direct Belle Isle - Hayling

Nigel Hufton - 10th September 2013

After a hugely successful events in 2009 and 2011, the Larks will be returning to Hayling Island S.C. over the weekend of 5th/6th October for a combined Masters and Open meeting.
Open to helms aged 35 and over, the Masters event will again be on the Saturday, allowing current helms aged 35 and over to pit their skills against the Lark Gods of yesteryear and vice versa. Current Lark sailors under 35 are requested to lend their boats to a past master – you may even think of crewing for one, so gaining a fascinating insight into how these guys did it.

For anyone who would like to attend the event but does not have a boat, please contact Harry Pynn (07734 882364), who will endeavour to fix you up.

The Open meeting will then follow on the Sunday, thereby allowing all Lark sailors past and present to sail on this excellent venue, which offers full sea sailing, easy access from all areas of the country and a great club.

On the Saturday night, the evening Black Tie Dinner and Disco will give the opportunity to catch up with old friends and recall past glories, or have great night out if you are only sailing on Sunday (or not sailing at all).

For both events, 3 races out in Hayling Bay are planned, with the option of racing in Chichester Harbour if the weather doesn’t play ball. First start on Saturday will be at 12:55, whilst the start on Sunday will be at 10:55. More details will follow on the club website.

Entry for each of the days racing and tickets for the evening social can all be bought separately. So even if you cannot sail – come along for what should be a fantastic social.

For those looking for accommodation; the club has bunk rooms available but these will be filling up fast. The club is offering a discount on the bunk rooms. There is also space for motor homes – please let the club know in advance.
