Winter Lark Sailing is going strong…Hot on the heels of a good showing at the Draycote Dash before Christmas, and a strong turn out at the Bloody Mary, the southerners started their winter exploits at the first Frensham Five, the eastern fleet have been seen at the Alton Water Frostbite, and rumours are of winter sailing at South Staffs and a new fleet emerging in the deep south at Netley.
Stu and Nic Hydon led the way on the water for the latter half of the Bloody Mary, only to put themselves in pole position for the first Duckhams of 2013 by recording an OCS for their attempt at the “committee boat spear”! Steve Hall and Oli Wells led the finishers home (64th), chased by Charlie Roome and Holly Scott (98th), with Pete Mitchell and Karen Falcon following home (153rd).
The Hydon’s had better luck at the Dash, securing 31st, following by Mitchell and Falcon (37th) with Tim Vick and Rebecca Marks taking 53rd.
Next up we have the Shustoke Gauntlet on the 10th February, HISC Perisher on the 16th Feburary, Frensham Five Take 2 on the 17th, and the rearranged Stevie Nicholson on the 23rd February (pre entry only).
So what you are waiting for…it’s never too early to get the boat out and on the water, now the snow has gone, pick your event, use the forum to see who else is joining you and get some sneaky practice in before the Belle Isle starts!
