At Least five National Champions and two World Champions in a fleet of thirty four, it must be the Lark Masters!
The Lark may not be the most recent design but the boat designed in 1966 by Michael Jackson (not the well known singer) still attracts the top sailors for the Masters Championships.
Great sailing was laid on at Hayling with sunshine and a steady breeze and even some gentle waves to welcome the Masters. In the apprentice masters fleet, over 35, Jon Ibbotson dominated the sailing with two first places crewed by Eluned Stewart.
In the Masters fleet, over 45, Andy Shorrocks reunited with Jackie Bonella took second place overall and Master from the Apprentice Masters team of Sarah Richards and (brother) Nigel Wakefield coming in third overall. In fourth place and third in the Apprentice Masters were Will Warren and Sophie Mackley.
Fifth and Sixth pace overall and second and third Master were taken by Nigel Hufton / Andy Douglas and Stuart Hydon / Nick Hydon.
In the Grand Masters, over 55, the winners were Mike Wigmore and Charlie Roome. Second and third Grand Masters went to Bill Barker and Nick / Annie Haigh.
