25 Larks competed at Royal Harwich Open 14 of which were from Waldringfield.
Saturday's two races were sailed in a force 3-4 NE. Race 1 saw Steve Hall and Sophie Mackley lead from the start; places changed with Stuart Hydon and Tim Linsell eventually finishing ahead Alan Krailing and Edd McArdle.
In race two the lead changed several times with Matt White and Kerry Ryan slipping into contention after taking a strong lift up the right side of the course. The final positions were Hydon/Linsell, White/Ryan and Krailing/McArdle
Sunday morning arrived with a light shifty breeze from the trees over the club. Race 3 was very testing as the breeze swung up the first beat and first reach. Stephen and Chris Videlo emerged as race winners, with Harry Pynn and Michael John Gifford in second place.
Race 4 was a general recall with the black flag brought out by Race Officer Graham Ireland. Again very shifty with Hydon/Linsell eventually winning and Krailing/McArdle stealing second place from Pynn/Gifford at the line.
Into the last race there were 3 boats in contention. A big shift on the start gun saw a number of boats on the wrong end of the line; Pynn and Videlo and Nigel Hufton/Andy Douglas getting away cleanly, leaving Hydon/Linsell and Krailing/McArdle fighting through the fleet and shifts playing catch up. Finishing positions were Videlo/Videlo, Pynn/Gifford and Hufton/Douglas.
