Racing at Hayling Island this weekend

After a highly successful Masters Championships last year, the Larks are returning to Hayling Island for a one-day Open Meeting on Sunday 16 May. This event is shared with the Merlin Rockets and if last year is anything to go by it promises to be a fantastic event, and our first real taste of sea sailing in 2010. There'll be three races with the first race start at 11am, but remember you'll need 30mins to get out to the start area. Registration starts at 8.30 and the briefing is at 9.30

The day before is the annual Glyn Charles Memorial Race which is all about fun, fundraising and remembering Glyn - one of Great Britain’s best young sailors, who was tragically lost in the 1998 Sydney-Hobart race. The day is run in aid of the John Merrick’s Sailing Trust with all levels and ages of sailors getting involved. Double-handed boat: £12 with all proceeds being donated to the John Merricks Sailing Trust. You can enter at registration, or even on the water (30 metres to leeward of the starting line), if you're undecided whether to attend! Registration starts from 09:00 on Saturday 15 May with a scheduled time of the warning signal for the first class to start is 1155hrs, with the scheduled Lark start being at 1244. There are traditionally lots of great prizes and a number of spot prizes and no competitor will receive more than one prize.
