Races 1 & 2 of the 2010 Frensham 5 took place on 24th January. The brave souls who emerged from their enforced hibernation found ice still surrounding the lake, but enough sailing area to set a slightly smaller course. Race 1 had four leaders, but the light zephyrs suited Chris Ellis, who came from last to win using his local knowledge, followed by James Stewart/Chris Whitehouse and Nigel Hufton/Sarah Harvey-Nevin. After Chris Ellis had told the assembled fleet how it was done, Stewart/Whitehouse and Mark Ampleford/Alex Jackson used their new-found knowledge to storm into the lead in the second race. Ellis/Smith & Hufton/Harvey-Nevin, eventually overhauled Ampleford/Jackson, with Ellis/Smith winning the battle for second.
An enjoyable day was had by all and we encourage all other Lark sailors to join in this 10 race (5 to count) pre-season warm-up series. Races 3 & 4 will be on 7th February (Starts 1040 and 1215). Other dates are on the Lark Forum.
