The Notice of Race for the forty third 24 Hour Race for GP14, Enterprise and Lark Dinghies has been posted on the West Lancashire Yacht Club's website. Clubs, Class Associations and Universities should enter before 1st June 2009 to qualify for the discounted early entry fee.
The race, listed fourth in Yachts & Yachting's list of the top 50 regattas and sailing events to do before you die, is the UK's number one dinghy endurance race (won by Larks twice in the last three years!); with an outstanding social programme that lasts for 48 hours. Accommodation is readily available in this seaside resort and camping/caravan facilities are available at the lake edge.
The race, which is continuous from noon on the Saturday through to noon on the Sunday (19th/20th September 2009), is sailed by teams of helms and crews with changeovers taking place in the designated 'docking area' which is overlooked by spectators and waiting crews seated in the nearby covered grandstand. Racing takes place on the the relatively safe waters of the Southport Marine Lake around a 1.2 mile triangular course.
