2008 Lark Nationals Day 4

Simon Cox - 30th July 2008

Well it's been hot here in Yorkshire this week and that's not just the weather which has been amazing. The competition throughout the week has been immense which has been highlighted by the high scoring so far.

Race 5 was sailed in a Force 3 to 4. Christopher Fish & Beth Condie took a convincing win from Jeremy Stephens & Ellie Bremer and Stephen & Chris Videlo.

The rescheduled Race 2 was sailed in the same conditions. Class chairman, Simon Cox & Joe Hunt were first out of the gate and were never headed. P&B Boys, Steve Hall & Simon Haighton and Harry Pynn & Dave Chisholm mounted a challenge themselves pulling away from the pack. They finished in that order.

At the front of the fleet Fish & Condie won there protest against the race committee over a finish line incident giving them equal first in Race 3.

In the Silver and Bronze fleets the action is also hotting up. Dan Watson & Harri Condie still lead the Silver Fleet but they are being hard pressed by a number of boats that prefer the breezier conditions.

In the Bronze fleet it is all change with Tim Vick & James Morley now leading from Spanni Archer & Hannah Mayhew who both beat numerous Gold fleeters in yesterdays conditions.

The Crew's Race took place in the best conditions of the day. Hot favorites, Becky Priest & Emma Harris failed to live up to expectations leaving class joker, Jane Alexander & Chris "Duckhams" Whitehouse to win comfortably from International Moth builder, Dave Chisholm & Harry Pynn.

This is one of the most open championships the class have ever had with a large number of teams still in the running for glory.
