2008 Lark Inland Championships Preview

Just in case you needed reminding, this weekend is the 2008 Lark Inland Championships. This year we are sailing at one of the countries great inland venues, namely Datchet Water.

With over 70 boats attending last year we are expecting another great turn out for the first major championship of the year. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Classic (Baker & Parker Mk 1) fleets. The competition is sure to be red hot throughout the fleets just like the weather!

If your keen on coming down but are lacking a crew, helm or boat please contact vice.chairman@larkclass.org and we will try to match you up with the missing item.

For those of you who have not attended a Lark event and thinking of coming down, please do so. There will be plenty of people around to offer advice and tips on boat set up, tuning and repairs, for all ages of lark. So come along and experience Lark sailing on mass at its very best.

The galley at Datchet is second to none and will be open for breakfasts, lunches and an evening meal. With the bar suitably stocked for a Lark event, what better way to enjoy a summer's evening drink whilst adsorbing the panoramic views of the reservoir.

There is a disco planned for the Saturday night so there will be the opportunity to display your perfectly choreographed shaking of limbs on the dance floor.

Camping is free at the club, so there is only be a short stumble from the bar to bed. For those of you wishing for a more refined night's sleep there are a couple well priced lodges nearby, these are;

Inkeepers Lodge Call 01753 591 212
Quality Inn Call 01753 684 001

When booking if you mention you are sailing at Datchet, dependant on availability, they sometimes offer a discount.

First race is due to start at 12:00 on Saturday, with racing not starting before 10:00 on the Sunday.

We're looking forward to seeing you all there..
