Mayflower SC Silver Fleet report.
Five Silver fleet teams headed south and west for the Final Fling at Mayflower SC looking for some fun in the waves. Saturday did not disappoint with a lovely force 3 blowing from the south east.
The weekend was crucial for all the teams to try to discard some points from the Belle Isle as places and prizes are up for grabs. Stuart & Julia Allen were in the top Silver spot, but were the only team (from any fleet) not to discard any points from their total. Team Biglin did there campaign the world of good and ended up in front of the Allenís in the Belle Isle rankings.
Matt Stearn & Adam Owens had a great weekend, with some great sailing on the Sunday to finish 4th overall and top Silver fleet boat (also they were the only Silver boat to break the ranks of the Gold fleet).
The Biglinís (7th) did there thing to stave off the challenges of Steve Chatten & Katherine Lovering who revelled in the conditions on Saturday finishing 8th overall. Nigel Scott & Rachel Rhodes had some great down wind speed on Saturday and showed good skills in the lighter airs on Sunday to post a 9th at the end of the weekend.
So all the Silver teams added to their sea chest of results (except team Allen who came in 10th and gave one back to Davy Jonesí locker). With two events to go it is still wide open and mathematically any one of 5 teams can walk away with the Jackson Five Trophy. They are, in no particular order; Steve, Stu & Jules, Chris W, Chris & Ann and Matt & Adam.
Letís see who turns up to Frensham!
Thanks to all at Mayflower for hosting the event and providing great courses and well run races. See you all there next year, itís a brilliant open meeting.
