Lark Inlands Classic Fleet Report

Stuart Allen - 05th July 2007

It was great to see the Classic Fleet of Larks represented at Grafham Water over the weekend. A few of the younger members of the fleet looked on in wonder as jibs with circular windows were unfurled, apperently these used to be all the rage. Boats ranged from number 40 built in 1967 to 624 built in the early 70's.

With three good close races under their belts on the Saturday the Classic fleet showed that in these flat water conditions that they still have good boat speed compared to the newer Larks, meaning that they had close racing with all of the fleet.

Sunday proved to be a little windy for the old girls, with only one boat venturing out, and finishing the first race. However, the Classic Fleet competed, and a winner had to be found. Simon & Adam Styles in Lark 376 from Evesham SC took the honours, with Ian Edwards & Peter Green, also from Evesham SC, sailing Lark 624 claiming second. Sandy Levelle & Pat Jones, Shearwater SC, came home in third spot in Lark 40.

Thanks to those teams that brought out their Classic Larks, it weas great to see you out there. Don't forget to enter for the Nationals!
