Weymouth SC Silver Fleet Report
20 Larks ventured out in the warm force 2 breeze that greeted the fleet at Weymouth bay. Amongst them were 4 hardy Silver Fleet teams looking to make headway in the Belle Isle standings. Stuart & Julia Allen laid down the gauntlet in race one posting an impressive 2nd place, continuing the form from recent events, followed by a 4th in race two. Steve Chatten & Kirsty Phipps, sporting fine hangovers from the Friday nights entertainment, improved as the day went on getting the better of Nigel Scott & Rachel Rhodes in the last race of the day. Scott & Rhodes and two good first races on Saturday, finishing just out of the top third. Chris Whitehouse & Jez Stephens did not have the luck with them on Saturday, as a closed M27 saw them missing the first race, however, they came out with all guns blazing for the second race getting a 3rd place under their belts.
Sunday saw a long delay before the fleet were sent out to sail in the harbour. One race was sailed before the racing was abandoned for the day which saw an eager team Allen OCS and going back to restart. Chatten & Phipps posted their best result of the weekend ahead of Whitehouse/Stephens who took one place out of Scott & Rhodes’ score.
Overall, the Allen’s took home the chocolates with a 3rd overall, Scott & Rhodes took home the Vino (if someone remembered to pick it up for them) followed by Whitehouse & Stephens and Chatten & Phipps.
Thanks to the Sailing Clubs of Weymouth for hosting the Regatta and to Weymouth Sailing Club for hosting the Larks.
