The first day of the 2006 Lark National Championships was sailed in very windy conditions and a short chop. It was hard to be consistent over the two races sailed today. Many of the fleet had chance to visit the centreboard as the runs in particular proved treacherous.
Race 1 was led from start to finish by pathfinders Dougal Scott and Dave Marlow. Jon Fish and Toby Lewis came second and Nigel Hufton, Chris Whitehouse came 3rd.
Race 2 was led from the start by Chris Fish, Beth Condie. Chris and Beth extended their lead throughout but were left disappointed as there rig fell over the bow on the last run. This left Alan Krailing to take the spoils having recovered from a broken boom in the first race. James stewart and Ruth Johnson came second and Nigel Hufton, Chris Whitehouse finished 3rd.
The Silver fleet is being led by Dan Smith and Nicola Attwood. The bronze fleet is being led by Richard Adams and Lewis Crawford. Outstanding performance of the day was silver fleet sailors Steve Chatten and Ellen Milner who came 6th in the 2nd race.
