I've just purchased a Parker Mk 2. It is fitted with a fixed wooden rudder blade (composite wrapped) in a cee vee head stock. It looks like the head stock is made for a lifting rudder but it has been pinned down. Due to the water conditions where we sail it would be really usefull to change it back to a lifting rudder. would anyone have a guide as to how a lifting rudder works. I'm reasonably good at DIY. Is the blade lifted with a piece of shock cord (to lift) and held down with a downhaul or the other way round? Many thanks.
