Rock SC Belle Isle and West Country Wheel
The Quay Rock Wadebridge Cornwall PL27 6LB
Probably the best venue on the calendar! Rock provides three days of sun, sand and sea. Accommodation is readily available either in dorms at the club or holiday houses nearby.
For those who haven't been before, the event is almost a mini nationals with gate starts and 6 races over 3 days. Many Larkies make a longer weekend of it as there are cheap flats available Thursday to Thursday. Contact John Bray (Holiday Lets) on 01208 863206 in Rock for details. For those who have been before - you know just how good Rock can be!!
Sailing is held either in the bay or in the estuary mouth, depending on the conditions. It can take a good 45 minutes to get to the starting area so don't be slow to launch. Launching is off a sheltered beach, but beware of sandbanks on the way out.
Getting there is quite quick along the A30, but don't underestimate the time take for the last few winding miles - best travelled late on Friday night, or the day before, as flats run from Thursday to Thursday.
From Exeter, take the A30 towards Bodmin. After Launceston, take the A395 and join the A39 towards Wadebridge. In Wadebridge, turn right following signposts to Rock. After 2 miles, turn left towards Rock. Follow the road to the river - the club is on the foreshore.
